25 July 2019, Djibouti:  IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP), with support from the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF) through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the IPPSHAR program, conducted a three days regional consultative meeting on the Illicit Circulation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) with regard to Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and other relevant International Frameworks, held on 23-25 July 2019 in Djibouti.

19 June 2019, Entebbe:  IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP), with support from the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF) through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the IPPSHAR program, today opened a four days advanced regional training on “Criminal Intelligence Analysis” for all IGAD Member States.

Criminal intelligence is an essential instrument in preventing and countering transnational security threats like organized crime. It is the basis for proactive policing and investigation.

13 June 2019, Bishoftu: IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP), with support from the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF) through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the IPPSHAR program, conducted a three days training on “Implementing Human Rights Standards in Preventing, Investigating, and Prosecuting Terrorism Cases” for all IGAD Member States on 10-12 June 2019 in Bishoftu, Ethiopia.

10 May 2019, Addis Ababa - The Intergovernmental Authority on Development’s (IGAD’s) Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) and INTERPOL held discussion on Disrupting the Finances of Criminal Networks responsible for Human Smuggling and Trafficking in the Horn of Africa. The discussion examined the existing trafficking and smuggling networks in the Greater Horn of Africa (GHoA) region, their mode of operation, and how existing anti-money laundering tools and instruments could be used to disrupt these networks. It also addressed the need to strengthen international cooperation in combating these networks, including the establishment of a partnership between INTERPOL and IGAD to cooperate in the development of a regional strategy and the building of institutional capacities to counter human smuggling and trafficking as well as to disrupt related illicit financial flows.
