6 June 2024, Santiago de Chile - At the invitation of the Embassy of Chile in Ethiopia and the African Union, officers from the IGAD Security Sector (IGAD-SSP) undertook a working visit in Chile between June 01^st and June 07^th, 2024, as a way of bolstering the implementation of the memorandum of understanding concluded on October 2023 in the area of maritime security and safety between the regional regrouping and the Republic of Chile.

 11 October 2023 - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: IGAD Peace and Security Director Hon. Siraj Fegessa, on behalf of H.E. Workeneh Gebeyehu, the IGAD Executive Secretary; and the Director-General for Middle East and Africa of Chile Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Juan Pino signed on Thursday, October 11^th a Memorandum of Understanding which sets historic milestones for cooperation in matters of maritime security and safety.

 31 August 2023, Mombasa-Kenya: The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully concluded a two-days regional validation workshop to validate the IGAD Statute for the Establishment of a Regional Cooperation and Coordination Mechanism against Transnational Security Threats (TSTs) held on 30-31 August 2023.

 25 August 2023 (Bishoftu, Ethiopia): The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully conducted a National Workshop for Ethiopia’s Judiciary under the theme “Developing Criminal Justice Information System: AU’s continental policy on transitional Justice and Ethiopia’s national initiative on inclusive and comprehensive transitional justice as a mechanism of promoting sustainable peace, democracy and justice” on 23-25 August 2023.

13 July 2023 - Bishoftu, Ethiopia: The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has effectively conducted a Regional Follow-up Meeting on The IGAD Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) and Extradition Frameworks. The purpose of the meeting was to follow up on the recommendations of the previous efforts related to the accession, ratification, domestication, and implementation of the two IGAD conventions.
