10 March 2021 - Mombasa, Kenya: The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD-SSP) has successfully concluded a three-days national training on Border Security and Traveler Identification Systems in the Aviation Domain.  24 February 2021, Bishoftu-Ethiopia: The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully concluded a three-days national training on Border Security and Traveler Identification Systems on the Aviation Domain. The objective of the training was to enhance the capacity of officials in the aviation security, immigration and intelligence of Ethiopia to effectively prevent, detect, and intercept the entry or transit of suspected terrorists, foreign terrorist fighters and other serious criminals when such individuals attempt to enter or transit through airports with the use of biometric data and advanced traveler identification methods.

16 December 2020, Bishoftu - Ethiopia - The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully concluded a three days national training on the Role of Media in Preventing and Countering Terrorism.   The objective of the training was to raise awareness on the role the media plays as well as enhance the capacities of journalists, editors, and media professionals in countering and preventing terrorism, violent extremism, and other serious crimes.

10 December 2020, Khartoum-Sudan - IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP), with support from the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF) through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the IPPSHAR program, conducted a four-days national consultative meeting, from 7-10 December 2020, on the Illicit Circulation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) with regard to Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and other relevant International Frameworks, in Khartoum, Sudan.

The illicit circulation of SALW fuels and contributes to armed conflicts, terrorist threats and political instability in the IGAD region and beyond, as recognized by the IGAD Peace and Security Strategy (2016-2020).

November 9, 2020 - Juba, South Sudan - The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has kicked of a five-days national training workshop in Juba, with high level officials from the Government of South Sudan to contribute to the development of security sector transformation policy framework. The training is conducting with the financial support from the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF) through the IPPSHAR Program that is being implemented by IGAD SSP and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
